Have You Considered Boating Off Into the Sunset?

Here we are at the end of November 2020. Today, I am just coming back to my desk after a week away for the Thanksgiving holiday; my first time-off since summer. It was a good preview to the time off coming in just 19 days, when we will shut down for 2 weeks for the Christmas holiday. We made a list of everything we must accomplish by December 18, and we are setting out to tackle that list. And then, our entire team will have 2 weeks to rest and restore and reflect and renew.

For me, having 3 weeks off in each half of the year is crucial to my existence. I tell my clients that I need time to focus on my own life rather than others’ lives. Their lives are front and center for all the other weeks of the year. They understand we need our time to focus on our families and ourselves, too.

It is a special time of year, vacation time, and we prepare all year for it. Now, we are in the final stretch, and the mood is good.

The new year is already in our planner and on our to-do list. We will be moving office space in the 1 st quarter of 2021. This month, I looked at office space around Westlake for a new home for Lazar Law. Our commitment to a virtual office is real and permanent and will extend beyond COVID. As a virtual office, we are downsizing and our priorities for our physical space are changing. It is exciting to imagine and create a new Lazar Law equipped for a new era.

I am happy to report my eye is improving; I have turned the corner on this season of eye-induced drama. Thank you for your kind messages.

So, alright, I am 100% ready for December 2020. Aren’t you?

Be Bold,

Jodi

FEATURING AUSTIN

RETRO BOAT RENTALS ATX

If there is one good thing about Endless Summer in Austin is the ability to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. So, even though we are heading into December, it is the perfect time to take advantage of new-to-Austin Retro Boats.

Retro Boats offers 90-minute boat rentals on Lady Bird Lake in eco-friendly restored classic fiberglass runabout boats from the jet-age era (1958-1963). The boats have been retrofitted with electric motors, meaning zero emissions, and have a max speed of 4.5mph. The boats are mid-century retro cool, and when you go online to make your reservation, you pick out your boat. We like Gidget, a 1958 Glastron Fireflite, because she was made in Austin and because she is pink. June is the dog-friendly boat.

Imagine cruising on the Colorado River through downtown Austin, passing under the bridges, parading by the Austin skyline, checking out the Festival of Lights and the Zilker Tree, the elaborate residences, what’s going on at Auditorium Shores, and all the new construction along the south side of the river. It’s a special outdoor activity that is perfect for our December weather and is “COVID-friendly”.

Gift certificates are available. You can take credit for thinking of it, we don’t mind.

Retro Boats is located on the lower level of the Waller Creek Boathouse, 74 Trinity Street, on the north shore of Lady Bird Lake where Trinity Street ends at the lake in downtown next to the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail, just below the Four Seasons Hotel. Rental rates are $150/90-minutes. Go to their website to make reservation or to buy a gift certificate and to read their terms: www.retroboatsatx.com

A Year to be Open

FROM JODI It is a New Year, and we have made it through January. By the time the end of January rolls around, I have forgotten all about the holidays and even the year before. We are full-on 2024, now! I also like to tackle January with its own specific goals, an...
